MAG 30 Range Shooter Development - 30 Hours

MAG-30 Range is a three-day course is specifically designed to bring the MAG-20 Range or MAG-40 Graduate to the next level of their shooting skills using Massad Ayoob’s Defensive StressFire Defensive Handgun System.

MAG-30 Range is a physically and mentally demanding course. The 3,000 round count Course of Fire is extremely structured for maximum efficiency.

Each core technique is trained, skill builder drills are performed and a minimum score is needed for each of the eight (8) qualifications. All Qualifications need a passing score of 90%, 270 points scored out of a possible 300 points.  All techniques during all qualifications must be performed properly, within the exact time limits, with passing scores, to receive a MAG-30 Range certificate.

A two-day, 20-hour immersion course in rules of engagement for armed law-abiding private citizens, emphasizing legal issues, tactical issues, and aftermath management.

Topics will include interacting with suspects, witnesses, responding police officers…threat recognition and mind-set…management of social and psychological aftermath after having had to use lethal force in defense of self or others…and preparing beforehand for legal repercussions and minimizing exposure to them. Situations in the home, at the place of business, or “on the street” will all be covered.

RangeMaster Basic Instructor Development Course

This is an intensive, full three-day course (24 hours total) that teaches instructor candidates:

• modern adult learning theory;
• preparation, delivery, and documentation of training;
• development of training aids, including power points and others;
• coaching methodologies, diagnosing and correcting shooters’ errors;
• modern, effective gunhandling techniques, designed to work under stress;
• proper handling/operation of a variety of handgun types; and
• effective, efficient combat marksmanship techniques.

The course time is divided about equally between classroom sessions and range firing, and each student will fire approximately 850 rounds of ammunition. Students will act as coaches for other students, and each will be coached extensively in turn. Students also receive a 280-page training manual, which is a valuable information and reference resource.

To graduate from this course, students must pass a shooting qualification and pass a written examination. This course satisfies the training requirements for the Oklahoma CLEET regulations to become an OK SDA Instructor; for a state firearms instructor license in South Carolina by SLED; for 24 hours of continuing education credit in South Carolina by SCCJA; for 24 hours training credit by Georgia POST; for an instructor license in Arkansas ; for handgun instructor license from Tennessee Dept. of Safety; and it is accepted for 24 hours of in-service LE training in Florida and for signing off on Florida CWL applicants.

For this course, students will need:

• A serviceable sidearm, revolver or semiauto, of at least .38 Special or 9X19mm caliber ( .38 Special, 9mm, .357 SIG, .40 S&W, .45 Auto);
• A serviceable uniform duty or concealed carry holster, worn on the belt, of leather or kydex construction, with a covered trigger guard;
• At least three magazines or speedloaders (more is better);
• 850 rounds of ammunition for the sidearm

DEFENSIVE HANDGUN

The DTI Defensive Handgun Course is designed to prepare the responsible, adult gun owner to handle, maintain, safely store, and use their firearm safely, responsibly, correctly, and effectively, so that they are able to successfully handle nearly any personal protection situation.

An increasing number of people are seeking to improve their defensive shooting skills and expand their knowledge about the use of firearms for personal protection.

Here in the United States, many states are currently expanding access to concealed carry permits. DTI classes offer permit holders and those who are considering applying for a permit an opportunity to learn how to properly and safely carry a concealed handgun and to understand the laws regarding the use of lethal force for personal protection.

The course will consist of classroom lecture/demonstration and live-fire exercises on the range.
